RIM India presents BASE 2012
What is BASE
BASE is an initiative by RIM India to welcome students to leverage the BlackBerry ecosystem in more ways than one. BASE empowers students with all that’s needed to marry technology and creativity and test their entrepreneurial spirit through the BlackBerry App World. BASE aims to create awareness about the BlackBerry Developer Zone, App World, BlackBerry Academic Program, BlackBerry devices & RIM as an organization.
The first BASE12 is targeted to the 3rd and 4th year Engineering students in Tamil Nadu. The initiative begins with a Summit at the hub college in each participating university, supports the students through app clinics and culminates with numerous prizes being won by the teams submitting the best applications to the BlackBerry App World.
About the BASE program
Students registering to the BASE program will be supported in this entire journey by RIM. Students will access online resources, receive online mentoring and select qualifying students will receive hands on training in app development. BlackBerry student ambassadors will be identified in the key colleges, who will be supported by RIM, who will in turn evangelize and help the student bodies to register for the contest, develop ideas, convert them to apps and submit to App World. RIA Society will provide overall support and guidance to all students. The Facebook BASE12 community will provide a hub for students to exchange thoughts and ideas and get support. Society for RIA-RUI will provide on ground engagement and support to students.
The program can be broadly classified into three parts:
Awareness SummitThis is a one day event that will be conducted at one college in premiere universities across Tamil Nadu. Students with a knack of developing mobile app, or with ideas for a mobile app, will be encouraged to participate in this camp. You will learn about the opportunities, be taken through the various aspects of Blackberry app development process & will be informed about the resources for developing apps. |
App ClinicApp Clinic is a focused 3-5 hours workshop model where students will get a chance to get started and do hands on BlackBerry app development. All the students who participate in this App Clinic will receive a participation certificate. Selection for App Clinic is based on completion of prerequisite projects and submission of app idea. Selected students for the App Clinic will be contacted through e-mail and phone. |
App ContestThis is the culmination of BASE and the start of your creative engagement with real customers. You will submit applications to the BlackBerry App World and win exciting prizes like BlackBerry devices and special service plans, Cameras, Recruitment / support etc. Click here to apply. |
